Student Council and Learner Voice


The College believes that learners' views about their education and training are important. They want to hear what learners have to say so that they can improve the learning experience for everyone.

Following the College’s established Learner Involvement Strategy, the Student Council was set up as another avenue for learners to discuss and express their views to influence College policies and documents; and send/receive feedback from the College.

The Student Council serves as the supreme decision-making body of all learners in the College and its decisions supersedes the Students' Union.

Student Council Representative Election Process:



The Student Council exist:
To increase learners’ awareness and enabling them to become proactive in College decisions affecting their learning. Learners have the opportunity to suggest how best to inspire others to contribute ideas which will enhance their learning experience and environment.
The key roles of a faculty representative are:
  • To represent and express learners' views to the College Management Team about their course and provision
  • To collect learners' views and feedback in tutorial sessions, email, Moodle forum and through feedback slips
  • To attend meetings and conferences.
Student Council Membership:
Members of the Student Council are learners who have been elected by students from the faculties through class reps to represent their interests to the College Management Team. The majority of the members will have roles and responsibilities as officers and these are:
  • 2 Chairs (16-18 & 19+)
  • 2 Student governors
  • General Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Clubs and Societies Officer
  • 2 reps from previous Council
  • 2 Centre reps
  • Equality & Diversity Officer
  • Communications Officer

The Student Council members attend the following committees/meetings to present and receive feedback on behalf of the student body.
  • Learner Voice Committee
  • Corporation meetings
  • Equality and Diversity meetings
  • Standard Committee
  • Focus groups
  • Faculty Academic Board
  • Questionnaires, Policies and Sub group meetings
  • Brent Youth Parliament
  • Student Council Termly Centre meetings
  • SAR (Self Assessment Review)

  • To give all learners the opportunity to have their say
  • To not give up on issues of importance
  • To treat everyone equally
  • To make allowances to accommodate all learners

Then join the planning committee to organise the various activities and events by students for students.

NUS Extra card is used to obtain discounts at various shops and outlets such as Superdrug, Matalan, JJB, Moss, McDonald etc. There are other exclusive discounts, offers and competitions on
www.nus.org.uk.

NUS Extra card is valid from 1st September to 31st August the following year. 
Your card will be sent to Mercy Udoh, Students' Union Liaison Officer at the Willesden Centre. You will then be contacted thereafter to come and collect your card.
