Responsibility for the governance of the College of North West London lies with its Further Education Corporation Board (Governing Body), which acts in many ways like a company's board of directors or trustees of a charity. All non-staff Members are volunteers who bring to their oversight of the College a wealth of experience from the local community and from business.
Through termly meetings, and the more frequent meetings of its various committees, the Corporation discharges its principal responsibilities, which are:
- Determining the educational character and mission of the institution
- Overseeing its activities
- Ensuring the effective and efficient use of resources, the solvency of the institution and the Corporation, and for safeguarding its assets
- Approving annual estimates of income and expenditure
- Appointing, grading, suspending, dismissing, and determining the pay and conditions of service of Senior Postholders and the Clerk to the Corporation
- Setting a framework for the pay and conditions of service of all other staff
