About Our Courses

Our qualifications are accredited by nationally-recognised awarding bodies. Our Foundation Degrees are validated by reputable universities in partnership with the College and we provide industry-approved programmes in a range of disciplines that meet the needs of employers.

Attendance
We try to make courses as flexible as possible, offering different ways to attend, such as full time, three days a week, one day a week, evenings only or Saturdays. Some courses run for a term, others for up to two years. Many courses start in September but some also start in January and April. Others are completely flexible and you can join and study at a time to suit you.

Tutorial Support
If you are a full time student you will be assigned a tutor at the start of your studies. You will have an induction programme, assessment of learning and personal support needs, regular progress reviews and action planning, and help with making choices for your next step into further study or employment.

Help With English and Maths
If you think you will find it difficult to study in English we can provide support. Even if you speak English but just have trouble with reading and writing we can help you to develop your languages skills. We run a series of English classes where you will be alongside other students who want to improve their English.

You can also get help with your maths so that you can complete your course successfully, and you will be get a learning plan so that you can see how you are progressing.

Additionally, the College has a team of qualified and experienced Learning Support Assistants how are assigned to work with individuals or small groups of students who need extra support in their studies.

Support For Those With Learning Difficulties and Disabilities
The College has well trained and experienced staff who support students with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities, such as mental health issues, physical disabilities, visual difficulties, Aspergers, and dyslexia. Please click here to find out more, or if you would like a discussion in confidence please contact Learning Support on 020 8208 5182.

Key Skills
On many courses you can get additional qualifications in communication, maths and information technology if you need them. These are called Key Skills. Improving your Key Skills and being assessed in them is important - they are recognised by employers and if you are thinking of going to university these qualifications can give you additional university entrance points.

Looking After You While You Study
Security staff are employed by the College to ensure you are safe on our premises. All students and staff have College identity cards which have to be shown when entering College.

We have Learning Resources Centres at each site to provide you with the resources you need to study, and refreshment facilities for when you need a break.

We are a secular college that is committed to Equality. We have Child Protection Policy procedures in place to safeguard young people in the College and the designated senior member of staff for child protection is the Deputy Principal, Maggie Pulle.

We also have a complaints policy which enables you to let us know if you are not happy with something at the College of North West London.
